Eeva Sofia Heikintytär Mäkelä was born in Ruotsinpyhtää as the daughter of Henrik Mårtensson and Eeva Michelsdotter on the 23rd of December 1851. Two of her brothers died during the great famine of Finland in 1868 and her childhood wasn't easy in any way.
She was wedded to Taavi Israelinpoika Mäkelä in 1879 and they got seven children, six of which lived to adulthood: sons Vihtori (born 1881) and Matti (1883 - 1904), daughters Anna (b. 1887), Hilda Maria (b. 1890), Aliina (b. 1893) and Alma (b. 1896). Besides that Aliina had a deadborn twin brother who didn't have a name.
She lived her life in the village of Haavisto in a cottage built by her husband and son Vihtori. Eeva Sofia Mäkelä died at the age of 79 on the 8th of March 1931 in Haavisto and she was buried to the Haavisto Cemetery. Her grave had only a wooden marker so the dates are not visible anymore.
