"In June of 1876 we and our two children emigrated to America. On our trip our oldest son Peter died in Chicago. We took him along to Mt. Lake where we stepped off the train on August 2 to make our home in the area. Nine days later our other son John also died and we buried both children on the Johann Fast farm." ~ Peter P. Quiring.
