Oliver Arnold Landsverk was born July 26, 1920 on the family farm near Fosston, MN to Arne and Tilda (Vollen) Landsverk. He attended The Landsverk School for primary grades and graduated from high school at the Crookston AC. He attended Augsburg College for one year in Minneapolis, then returned to join his father on the farm. In 1949, he was united in marriage to Mavis Munter. To this union of 61 years, four children were born: Gail, David, Mary, and Mark.
Oliver farmed all of his life and was active in many farming organizations. These included Fosston Co-op Elevator Association, Red River Valley Potato Growers Association, and Production Credit Association of Grand Forks, among others. He and Mavis were named Red River Valley Farmer and Homemaker of the Year.
Oliver, along with his family, was a charter member of Calvary Free Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities including president, church council member, trustee, and deacon. One of Oliver's dreams was fulfilled in May 2010, when he attended the first service of the new Calvary Church. Oliver was also active in the Gideon ministry.
Oliver received his private pilot's license in 1977. Another hobby was mowing his three-hole golf course and acreage. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and mornings with his "coffee buddies." Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
