Mr. Bailey was a graduate of Pierce High School in Arbuckle, and earned his bachelor's degree at Sacramento State College in 1961. He earned a degree from Hastings School of Law in 1964 and joined the law firm of Littlejohn and Westfall in 1965.
He started his own law practice in 1966, which he operated until Robert D. Clark joined Bailey in establishing the Bailey and Clark firm in July of 1968. In 1976, David R. Nelson joined and the firm became Bailey, Clark and Nelson until September 4, 1987, when Bailey was appointed by Gov. George Deukmejian as the sixth Superior Court Judge of Colusa County.
He served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Korea during the war, at which time he received the Bronze Star.
He was a member of the California Trial Lawyers Association, Colusa County, the State Bar Association, and supported Colusa County Youth in academics, sports and FFA.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons Duffy of Arbuckle and Daniel of Colusa; stepchildren, Kathy Garay of San Francisco, Scott Kittle of Colusa, Thomas R. Kittle of Atascadero and Mary A. Kittle of Sacramento; and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Yvon W. Bailey.
Interment was in the Arbuckle Catholic Cemetery. – Transcribed by M.
