Funeral services for James Wilson Barr, 54 years of age, were held Sunday, June 13, from the Mt. Zion Church of God near Roley in Adair County, with the Rev. Redmon in charge, assisted by Rev. Paul Campbell. Burial was in the Barr Family Cemetery in Adair County. The pallbearers were: Roy Jones, Willie Stayton, Walter King, Malcolm Eastridge, Haskel McDaniel, and Leonard King. The flowergirls were: Mrs. Pearl Flinchum, Mrs. Lola Miller, Mrs. Bertha McDaniel, Mrs. Christine Gabehart, Mrs. Virginia Remon and Mrs. Nettie Tedder.
Barr, son of Jerome G. Barr, of North Carolina, and the late Zelphia Sapp Barr, was born August 16, 1899 in North Carolina and died June 11 at 9:00 p.m. at the Louisville General Hospital. He united in marriage to Mary Shepherd Barr, August, 1928, and to this union four children were born. Surviving are Mrs. Homer Dickens, of this county, Mrs. Connie Craven, Wayne Barr and Miss Janet Barr, all of Louisville. He is also survived by his father and step-mother, Ida King Graybeal Barr; one brother, G. Willard Barr, of Hopkinsville; and four sisters, Mrs. D. D. Eastridge, of Casey Creek; Mrs. O. L. King, of Ashland, Ill.; Mrs. Lester Stayton and Mrs. Oscar Wood, both of Casey Creek. One sister died in infancy.
