The 1930 census has his name as F. Herbert Blakely and his younger brother as J. Willard Blakely. But I will not argue about where he chooses to put his middle initial. They are two younger sons of Clinton and Mary Blakely. There are four additional sibblings in the family: Hosie A., B. Hobert, Bertie L. and L. Agnes. They are the grandchildren of James Allison Blakely and Martha A. Bynum. and the g-grandchildren of Tapley Bynum and Eliza Cornelius. As far as I can tell neither of these brothers were ever married. Note that Willard and Herbert F. both died the same day, I do not know the details.
My cousin, John Burton has informed me that both brothers were married, and they both died in an industral accident at the steel mill in Alabama City. One of the brothers was over come while working in an enclosed area, and his brother attempted to rescue him. both perished. This accident should have been reported in The Gadsden Times newspaper. I intend to review the archives as soon as I can visit the Gadsden Library. Herbert F. Blakley is our 4C1R.
