The Mataura Ensign reports the death at Waikaia of Mr Archibald Delargey, one of the best-known amd oldest residents of the mining township, at the age of 62 years. The late Mr Delargey was a native of County Antrim, and came to New Zealand in the early sixties. In 1873 be -became licensee of the Commercial Hotel at Otautau. and later of the Farmers Arms at Oreti Plains. Eighteen years ago he took over the Commercial Hote! at Waikaia. and only retired into private life two years ago.
