Mary Rose Duncan, age 83, of McShan, died Feb. 18, 2010, at her daughter's residence in Millport. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at Reform First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Elmore and Rev. Brannon Pinion officiating. Burial will follow in Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Skelton Funeral Home of Reform directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ellis Duncan; her daughter, Ellen Jackson; her grandson, Brad Criswell; her parents; her sisters, Betty Gray, Beechel Tipton, Patricia Brown, and Brenda Coleman; and her brother, Andy Elmore.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra J. Estes (Terry) of Millport, Ala. and Sharon R. Owen (Joe) of Columbus, Miss.; her sons, Stanley Criswell (Roma), Michael Criswell (Dedra), and Frank Criswell (Meta), all of Reform, Ala.; her sister, Margie Fields (Harry) of Millport, Ala.; her brothers, Jerry Elmore (Karen) of Jemison, Ala., Larry Elmore (Syble) of Starkville, Miss., Danny Elmore (Katherine) of Caledonia, Miss., and Johnny Elmore of Helena, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Duncan was born November 25, 1926, in Kennedy, Alabama to the late James Henry "Buster" Elmore and Annie Lou Mitchell Elmore. She was a member of Reform First Baptist Church, a retired restaurant owner and well known resident of Pickens County.
Pallbearers will be Stan Criswell, Mike Criswell, Frank Criswell, Jason Criswell, Jeff Criswell, and Addison Criswell.
Honorary pallbearers are Andy Speed, Terry Estes, Joe Owen, Karl Vail, employees of Hospice of West Alabama, and Dr. Lee Richardson and staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404; or Reform First Baptist Church Children's Program, P. O. Box 100, Reform, AL 35481.
