Gottlieb I and Elizabeth (Gatzke) Krassin owned a small farm near the village of Radwonke in Kolmar County in Posen, Prussia. It was decided to sell the family farm and come to America. Gottlieb I and Elizabeth came to America, arriving in New York City on August 28, 1854, with their son Martin Krassin and his family. They made their way to Princeton, Wisconsin, where some of their children had already moved. In 1855, Gottlieb I and Elizabeth were part of the Martin Krassin party that came to Waseca County, and settled in St Marys township. While they also bought land in St Marys tws, it appears they always made their home with Martin's family. Family tradition says that both Gottlieb I and Elizabeth Krassin died around 1860, though they both are listed in the Martin Krassin household in the 1860 Census.

Gottlieb I and Elizabeth are buried in the "Krassin Cemetery" that is located in Section 34 of St Marys tws. The land on which the cemetery is located has remained in ownership by their descendants to the present day. It is presently owned by Dallas & Marsha McColley.

Gottlieb I and Elizabeth Krassin are my great great great grandparents and I have done considerable research on the various Krassin family branches. I am interested in sharing family research with other Krassin family members.
