DAVENPORT — Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for William C. "Bill" Allen, 39, a resident of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1923 N. Fillmore St., Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Halligan–McCabe–DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., downtown Davenport. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home that all are invited to attend.
Bill died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at Trinity Bettendorf after a year-long battle with colon cancer. His wife Wendy was at his side at the time of his passing.
William Carl Allen was born Dec. 30, 1973, in Davenport, the son of George Phillip and Sherry Lynn (Bankson) Allen. Bill graduated from Central High School, Class of 1992.
He married Christine Lane, and together they had two boys, Christopher and Joshua. He later was united in marriage to Wendy Ellen Nord on Oct. 27, 2004, in Davenport.
Bill had been employed at John Deere as an assembler at the Davenport Works.
Bill was very involved in the local bowling scene; he had been employed in his earlier years by Miller Time Bowling and remained close to everyone at the alley. He was also a junior bowling coach at Miller Time. He was active, too, in the Greater Davenport Bowling Association, serving as a vice president and assistant association manager. He was a very talented bowler, achieving numerous 300 games as well as numerous 800 series during his bowling career.
He had been a volunteer coach for Central Little League and team Kentucky Fried Chicken, as well as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America. Bill was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also cherished the outdoors, camping, fishing, deer hunting and golfing.
His greatest and proudest achievement in life was his children; he was also a loving husband, dad, son and brother.

Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Wendy; and children, Ashlee, Christopher, Joshua and Carlie; his parents, George and Sherry Allen, a sister and brother-in-law, Mindy and Ted Frahm, a brother, Bradley Allen and his fiancée, Dana, all of Davenport; his mother-in-law, Elva Nord and father-in-law, Craig Nord, a brother-in-law, Don Nord and fiancée Lesley, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his canine child, Sienna.
Bill's family would like to thank the third-floor nurses and the intensive-care unit nurses at Trinity Bettendorf, and Dr. Constantinou and staff for their loving care.
