CAMERON JOHN H. III, 71, of Lake Of The Pines passed away June 19, 2001. Born in Pittsburg, CA, September 4, 1929 he was a 30-year resident of San Mateo. Mr. Cameron served in the US Navy from 1948 - 1952 in the submarine division. He was student body VP at the College of San Mateo where he graduated with an AA in 1954. He retired from the San Mateo Police Dept., where he worked his way up to Commander. During his 27 years on the force he attended the FBI academy and the College of Notre Dame in Belmont where he earned his BS in 1975. The last 15 years was spent as a manager for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He had many memberships which included being President of the Fiesta Gardens Homeowner's Assoc., member of Lake of the Pines Pinesmen and the Lake of the Pines Men's Golf Club. He was also disaster chairman of the Placer County American Red Cross from 1983 - 1985. He will be remembered as an avid golfer, an experienced R.V.er, an extensive world traveler having gone on 21 cruises with his wife. He was a great crab fisherman and a fabulous bar-b-que chef! But most of all he was a loving husband, wonderful father and loyal friend. John is survived by his devoted wife of 47 1/2 years Gail, loving children John (Jeri) Cameron IV of Newark, Laura (Roberto) Pietrosanti of Milpitas and Tara (Bill) Opp of Columbia Falls, MT and 18 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggest donations be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
