Manuel was a sheepherder employed by Joe Elarga, and died by drowning while attempting to ford the Carson River on horseback. The horse lost its footing and fell, and Manuel was carried by the current. Yrungaray was a Basque, and 23 years of age when he died. [Information from Record-Courier newspaper, July 19, 1907].
