Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill, RSCJ. The daughter of Peter Henry Hill and Eleanor "Nora" Mary Young, was born in Washington DC, 13 MAR 1878.
Rosalie Hill entered the Society of the Sacred Heart in New York. She was vicar of the Chicago vicariate and became superior of the California province of the Society when it became autonomous in 1958. Mother Hill founded Lone Mountain College in San Francisco in 1930 and San Diego College for Women in 1945.
Mother Rosalie Hill played a spiritual part in the miraculous cure of Sister Rose Coyne at Manhattanville in 1919. Sister Rose Coyne, a member of the Manhattanville community was dying of consumption and at the inspiration of Mother Rosalie Hill, began a novena to Blessed Madeleine Sophie Barat. During the night of 24-25 MAY 1919, Sister Rose Coyne was miraculously cured, all traces of illness gone and health restored attributed to the intercession of the Blessed. Sister Coyne's cure was one of two accepted in the canonization of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat.
Mother Rosalie Clifton Hill, RSCJ, died at the age of 86 in 1964.
