Charles Otto Amundson was born May 16, 1878 to Ole and Catherine "Carrie" Amundson (of Norway) in Lindsborg, McPherson County, Kansas. 1881 finds Charles living with his family in King County, Washington. The US census for 1900 list Charles as a 22 year old single student as a boarder living in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. On Aug. 6, 1902 Charles and Marie Catherine "Kate" Miller the daughter of Sam H. Miller and Susan Taylor Miller are married at the Miller residence in Sunnyside, Washington.
The 1910 US census lists Charles, wife, and a son and daughter living in Sunnyside, and he is listed as a merchant in a hardware store. In September of 1918 at the age of 40 Charles registers for the WWI draft, he is owner of Amundson Hardware Store on 6th Street, Sunnyside and the family lives on East Boulevard. At the age of 63 Charles registers for the WWII draft in 1942, he states the family is now living at 404 So. 9th Street in Sunnyside, Washington.
