He was a faithful member of the First Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School. He was a farmer, he also was employed at the ASC Office of Meeker County for several years, which he enjoyed very much. Sherman and Sharyn live on the farm untill his retirement, when they moved to Hutchison, Minn. In failing health, Sherman became a resident of the Cosmos Health Care Center on March 15, 1989, where he resided until his death. Sherman reached the age of 85 years, 2 months, 7 days. Sherman is survived by his Nephew Melbourne LeMaitre and wife Marion of Mora, Minnesota. His second wife Sharyn Sparks Taylor also survived him. Sherman Dye Taylor's Social Security Number was 474-40-6569, died Nov 24, 1991 at 10:45 P.M.at the Cosmos Health Care Center in Cosmos, Meeker County, Minnesota. Sherman was a farmer. Listed on his Certificate of Death as Informant; his nephew Melbourne LE Majre, Bessie Ellen Taylor LeMaitre's (Sherman's sister) son. His wife Sharyn Sparks Taylor was living at his death. He was cremated by Central Minnesota Cremation Service in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The funeral establishment is listed as Hughes Cosmos Memorial Chapel in Cosmos, Meeker Co., Minnesota. At his death he was 85 years, 2 months, 7 days old. It appears that he had no children but this is not certain. A member of First Lutheran Chuch, who knew Sheridan said he din't think Sherman and Gladys had other children. Cause of his death Pneumonia, Other significant conditions: Renal function and degenerative brain function. His cremains were buried at First Lutheran Cemetery in Cosmos, MN., there is no stone marking Sherman's grave. However his first wife Gladys Lindeman Taylor is buried next to him, and she does have a grave stone. Sherman is buried between Gladys and the baby, identified only as Baby Taylor (apparntly unnamed). The baby was born Jan 4, 1936, In McLeod, MN. Probably still born. There is also a stone marking the baby's grave. Sherman is remembered as a smaller quiet man who always waved if you met him on the road. Gladys was a petite woman as well. Both were fondly remembered by Church members.
After Gladys' death Sherman married Sharyn Sparks, she used to bring him to church on Sunday, and waited for him. She was not a member of First Lutheran Church. Philip Nelson was one of the pallbearers for both Gladys and Sherman. He went to visit Sherman once in a while after Gladys died. Sherman set a place for Gladys at the table long after she was gone. Sherman missed Gladys, a great deal. Muriel, Philip's wife, was the director of nurses at the Cosmos nursing home for about 20 years and remembers Sherman when he was there too. It is believed that Sherman and Sharyn divorced and that when Sherman died, there was nothing left for Sherman to be buried. He was cremated by the funeral home in Hector and was held there for a while until they got the go ahead to bury him in the cemetery. Everyone that remembers Gladys or Sherman speaks well of both of them. Notice the grave picture on this memorial. Accoring to church members the vegetation growing on the baby's grave are beautiful Peonies originally planted by Sherman and Gladys in about 1937. The peonies on Sherman's grave were started from the original planting. The pictures were taken in late October 2011 so they are way past their prime for the year, but will return next spring.
