OBITUARY OF HERMAN FLATHMANN
Herman Flathmann was born on November 11, 1885, near Ruskin, Nebr., to Claus Flathmann and his wife, Anna, nee' Grabau. He was baptized on Nov. 29 of the same year by Rev. John Meyer from Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Kiowa. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Deshler on March 26, 1899, by the Rev. Wm. Flach. He has been a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Deshler since 1942.
Having been in ill health for some time, he passed away last Thursday on the sixth day of March, 1952, at the age of 66 years, 3 months, and 24 days.
Left to mourn are: His mother, Mrs. Anna Flathmann, of Ruskin; two brothers, John Flathmann of Chester, and Wm. Flathmann at home; and one sister, Miss Adelheid Flathmann, at home. His father, one brother (Claus) and one sister (Anna) preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the family home and St. Peter's Lutheran Church. The devotion at the home was conducted by Pastor A.G. Degner, who used Ps. 73, 23.24 as his text. Pastor R.L. Hafner officiated at the church. He spoke words of comfort based on Ps. 73,28. The congregation sang "Be Still My Soul." The school children sang "I Fall Asleep In Jesus' Wounds." Interment was made in Immanuel Lutheran cemeter (sic) west of Deshler.
