Carrillo -- Our beloved sister, Guadalupe"Pita" Carrillo was called home to the Lord on Palm Sunday, April 16, 2000. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1997 and a longtime resident of Tucumcari. Pita was living with her sister, Mildred Trujillo at the time of her death."God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around her and whispered,"Come with Me." A heart of gold stopped beating, your hard working hands laid to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us that He only takes the best." Pita was born June 1, 1914 in Newkirk, NM to the home of Roman and Todosita Mirabal. As a young woman she married Sacramento Gallegos. They made their home in Las Vegas, NM. In 1940. she and her spouse moved to Tucumcari. In 1941, Sacramento was drafted into the Navy where he was a casualty of war. In 1947, she married Johnny M. Carrillo, he preceded her in death in 1992. Pita came from a large family of 11 children. Surviving are sisters, Esmeralda"Mildred" Trujillo and Pauline Ruiz of Albuquerque and Katie Gutierrez of Tucumcari; brothers, Henry Mirabal of Amarillo, TX, Roman Mirabal of Albuquerque; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Tuesday, April 18 at 5:00 p.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Rose Church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at the Dilia Cemetery in Dilia, NM. Serving as pallbearers are Richard Mirabal, Jimmy Mirabal, Raymond Mirabal, Frank Tenorio, Pete Vargas, Henry Mirabal and Larry Maestas. The family would like to thank Sandia Hospice for their support and care they extended to Guadalupe"Pita" Carrillo. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South 3rd Street, Santa Rosa, NM (505) 472-3369.
