Inscription
In the vault to which this stone confines lies the remains of
Geo. Buchanan (son of George Buchanan of Ashbourne, Gent.)
who died on the 7th day of July 1791 in the 3rd year of his age
"Each moment has its sickle emulous
Of times emormous scythe whose ample sweep
Strickes empires from the root, each moment plays
His little weapon in the narrower sphere
Of sweet domestic comfort and cuts down
The fairest bloom sublinary bliss
Death! great proprietor of all 'tis thine
To tread out empire and to quench the stars
Oh insatiate archer!"
