Wesley Elmer Asbury, Sr., 73, of Wichita Falls, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2011 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. Interment will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Bryant, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
A son of the late Joseph and Lillie (Lewis) Asbury, he was born on October 25, 1937 in Bryant, Oklahoma. He served our country proudly in the United States Army, and later retired from PPG after 34 years of service. He was a member of Pecanway Baptist Church. Wesley enjoyed watching football and baseball. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, and the O.U. Sooners. He also enjoyed fast pitch softball, and Rodeos. He was a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation and Ceremonial Ground Arbeka, and a member of the Bear Clan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Marie Asbury of Wichita Falls; his children, Pauline Starr of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Curtis Joe Smith and wife Anna of Wetumka, Oklahoma, Coleman Joshua Asbury, Wesley Elmer Asbury, Jr., Lillian Jo Asbury, Charles Edward Asbury and wife Zina, and Thompson Lee Asbury all of Wichita Falls; his brother, Bill Wise and wife Anna of Livingston; brother-in-law, Richard Dorsey and wife Polly of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Lula Schwegman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and numerous friends.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2011 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
