Francisco C. Arellano, 98, died Sunday in Gila Regional Medical Center. He had been a resident of the area for the past 76 years, having moved here in 1913. He was born Oct. 10, 1890, in Salamanca, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Wenceslado and Francisca Cruz Arellano. He retired from Chino Mines as a track general foreman in 1953 after 40 years with the company. He was also a longtime member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Calling hours are this afternoon from 3-9 in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels. The rosary service will be at 730 tonight, also in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels, with Deacon Bill Holguin officiating. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with interment following in the Silver City Catholic Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Mayer officiating. He is survived by five sons, Guadalupe Arellano, Ben Arellano and Johnny Arellano, all of Silver City, Martin Arellano of Tyrone and Tony Arellano of Las Cruces; two daughters, Frances Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Socorro Arellano of Silver City; 35 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Felipa, in 1956 and by three sons, Pedro in 1950, Jesus in 1959 and Jose in 1979. Casket bearers will be Jesus Chuy Arellano Jr., Frank Arellano, Johnny D. Arellano, Joe Arellano Jr., Jesse Garcia Jr. and Marty Arellano. Honorary bearers will be John, Albert, Bill, Arthur, Frank Arellano Jr., Jessie, Norman, George, and B.J. Arellano and Robert Davis. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels.
