Elma G. Villarreal, 83, entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 1, 2012, in Rio Grande City, Texas. She was born on September 4, 1928 to Carmen and Anastacia Guerra in La Rosita, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Apolonio of 45 years, one brother Abel (Delfina) Guerra and two sisters Maria Leonilla (Jaime) Guerra and Carmela (Raul) Garza.

She remained in the Starr County area all her life. She married Apolonio Villarreal and had one child, Minerva. She settled in Rio Grande City, Texas where she was a housewife and loving mother. Her most significant role was being a grandmother to her beloved Iris Marie (Hernando) and Alberto Ivan (Mariela) her six great-grand children; Natalia Nicole, Natasha Renee, Leilani Shanee, Nalini Marie, Christian Troy and Ytzallani Nevaeh. Additionally, she was fond of several nieces, nephews, great grand nieces and nephews who frequently visited, called and kept her company through the years.

She is survived by one sister Adelfa Garza. Her love, affection, friendship and wisdom will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

A viewing was held Thursday, March 1, 2012 and Friday, March 2, 2012. Funeral Mass was held at the Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00 am March 3, 2012. Interment followed at Los Barrera's Cemetery. Pallbearers were Victor, Vidal, Samantha Salazar, Hernando, Natalia Cardenas, Alberto Ivan Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers were her Great-Grandchildren.
