Geneva R. Satterfield Brooks was called home to eternal rest on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at her home.
Geneva was born on October 21, 1932 in Hillsborough, NC, to the late Bennie and Magnolia Satterfield. She was the fifth born of seven children. Three siblings preceded her in death John, Mable, and Curtis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Brooks.
Geneva graduated from Central High School in Hillsborough, NC in 1951. She came to Wildwood, NJ in her early twenties to seek employment. She returned to North Carolina in 1977. In 1986, she relocated back to Wildwood, NJ and made it her home. Geneva was lastly employed at Stokes/Wildwood Linen until she retired in 2002.
She leaves to mourn and share fond memories: her children: Victor (Irma) Hurst of Garner, NC, O'Neil (Rita) Brooks of Wildwood, NJ, Richmond (Debra) Brooks of Durham, NC, Bridgette Brooks of Hillsborough, NC and Dana Fields of Wildwood, NJ; her grandchildren: Seneca, Necheala, Dwan, Dwayne, Marcus, Jessica, Brittany, Tahitia, Gerri, Imani, Denajae and Ahkeem; her great grandchildren: Catherine, Jordan, Naquila, Angelique, Gabryelle, Cassandra, Sheltina, Seneca Jr. and Jaiden; her sisters: Mozelle Chavious of Hillsborough, NC and Thelma Mayo of Hillsborough, NC; her brother: Harry (Marcine) Satterfield of Hillsborough, NC; special nieces: Alice, Helen, Catherine, and Barbara from North Carolina; special cousin: Pocahontas of Cape May Court House, NJ; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Geneva was a strong woman with a big heart. She touched many lives with her kindness. She loved to chat and tell stories over a good cup of coffee. She loved her family unconditionally and gave all she could. Mom Geneva, you will be missed. We love you.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Radzieta Funeral Home, 9 Hand Avenue, Cape May Court House, where viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Household of Ruth Cemetery, Whitesboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Love of Linda Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 1053, Wildwood, NJ 08260.
