My "Grandpa Scott" was not my biological grandfather, but he was every bit a grandpa in my life. When I graduated college and married and moved to the East Coast, he made sure he cut out all the U.W. sports articles and mailed them weekly to me and my rabid Husky fan husband.
He had a great chuckle, was slow to speak and long to listen, clipped coupons and did all the grocery shopping. He liked to make salads in a wooden bowl using a raw piece of garlic that he rubbed against the wood before putting in the greens. He made my grandmother a wind chime out of bamboo and she joked that it would take a hurricane to ever get any noise out of it so he made sure to bang it every once in a while to see if she would run to the kitchen window.
He worked at the Ordinance Depot near Fort Lewis for years and then at Teppco Credit Union. He was a wizard with numbers and loved to read mystery "who done it" magazines.
Miss you grandpa. Looking forward to seeing you again in Heaven.
