Elizabeth Louise Drye
Lawson, 90, of Concord, died
Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 at her residence
after being in declining
health for two years. Mrs.
Lawson was preceded in
death by her husband, Thomas
Lawson.
The wake service will be at
1:30 p.m. today, Friday, Jan. 5,
and the funeral service begins
at 2 p.m. at St. Peters Lutheran
Church in Concord. Rev. David
Paulson will officiate. The
burial will be at the church
cemetery. The family will
receive friends at the home, 35
Dorland Ave., Concord.
Mrs. Lawson was born Sept.
22, 1916 in Cabarrus County,
the daughter of the late Steven
and Bessie Drye. She was educated
in the public schools of
Cabarrus County, and prior to
retirement, Mrs. Lawson was a
domestic worker. She joined
St. Peters Lutheran Church at
an early age, then joined Jones
Chapel, later returning to St.
Peters Lutheran Church where
she was considered to be the
"Mother of the Church".
She is survived by a daughter,
Mae Elizabeth Garland, of
the home; two brothers, Bruce
(Estella) Drye and James
(Mary) Drye, all of Concord;
five grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren and 14 greatgreat- grandchildren.
Kelsey Funeral Home in
Concord is serving the family.
