George Marshall Baca, went to be with the Lord June 7, 1996.
A lifetime farmer, rancher and cowboy, he is survived by devoted and loving wife of 50 plus years, Cordelia of the family home, children, John Baca, Victor (Cheryl) Baca, Joanne Baca-Emerson, David (Brenda) Baca, George Baca and Mary Ann Jasper; daughter-in-law, Jo Kountz-Baca; grandfather of 14 including Leanne and goddaughter, Melanie, who were raised at the family ranch. Also survived by four great-great-grandchildren of three brothers, Gene Baca, Toby (Francis) Baca and Sam (Mary) Baca; three sisters, Annie (Jess) Rodriguez, Jennie (Steve) Rodriguez and Helen (Florencio) Quintana; sister-in-law, Eva Baca, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Elise Baca; brother, Gilbert Baca, and son, Ron Baca.
George was a veteran of U.S. Navy and was personally decorated with the Silver Star, Purple Heart and other South Pacific Theater medals by President Harry S. Truman and Admiral George Nimitz aboard the USS San Francisco, having survived 14 major battle campaigns.
Mr. Baca was a sixth generation Colorado son of the Baca, Finn and Autobee pioneer families and was very proud of his Spanish, Irish and French heritage.
Recitation of the Rosary, 7 p.m. Tuesday and funeral Mass, 2 p.m. Wednesday. Both services, St. Joseph Church, Blende.
Interment: Baca Ranch Cemetery
