Emma Stormy Fisher, whose American Indian name is Equay, died at the Cass Lake Indian Hospital. She was born in Boy Lake village, where she was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Garbo. She attended school in Wisconsin until age 17. She later met and married Tom Bug. They had four children and moved to Mille Lacs, where she lived until moving to Texas. She lived in Texas for some 20 years and remarried there, but came home as a widow to Cass Lake in 1974.

That was the same year that she became a Christian, joining the Faith Mission Indian Ministries Anishinabe Bible Chapel. She was baptized and rededicated there in 1984 by the Rev. Gerald Algers. She went on to become the elder and head deaconess of her church. Called the "mother" of her church, she was a leader in every event and program the church offered.

She is survived by a son, Tom Bug, Jr., and three daughters, Joyce, Clementine and Caroline.
