That was the same year that she became a Christian, joining the Faith Mission Indian Ministries Anishinabe Bible Chapel. She was baptized and rededicated there in 1984 by the Rev. Gerald Algers. She went on to become the elder and head deaconess of her church. Called the "mother" of her church, she was a leader in every event and program the church offered.
She is survived by a son, Tom Bug, Jr., and three daughters, Joyce, Clementine and Caroline.
