Daniel G. Agado, Sr.
SAN BENITO —"He will raise you up on eagle's wings and hold you in the palm of his hand."
On February 10, 1929 Daniel G. Agado Sr. was born to Juan and Amalia Agado in La Paloma, Texas, and joined them in the kingdom of heaven on November 21, 2001.
He was raised with six sisters and five brothers who loved him very much. He married Basilia Gonzalez on June 8, 1952 and settled on his ranch in San Benito, Texas. Daniel and his devoted wife raised a family of eight children, who grew up to be fine, respectable adults. After many years of employment, he retired from the Cameron County Health Department in 1991.
Daniel could hardly resist getting a giggle out of anyone in his presence with the joke of the moment that came from an unending supply. His face could light up an entire room if the newest addition to the family entered, or his funny expressions would put any kid in hysterics. Even at the saddest of times, Daniel found the humor somewhere.
He loved his home, his ranch, his polkas, and chicken broccoli in brown sauce, but most of all he loved his family. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and taught them that you have to work to succeed. His family traditions were upheld throughout the years, from butchering the Christmas pig to cracking piñatas on birthdays. His faithful dog was always by his side as he herded the cattle, fed the chickens, hung a snake on the tree while praying for rain or whenever he sat relaxing in the shade of the parra.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jose and Feliberto Agado, Sr., his sister Chonita Gonzales, and two grandchildren Brandi Lizette Agado and Ryan Samuel Rocha.
His wife and loving family eagerly awaits reunion in the kingdom of God: his eldest child Maria Elena (Ernesto) Perez and their children Katherine Lee, Julie Ann, and Michael Ernest. Son Juan Jose (Carolyn) and their children Justin Keith and Lauren Ashley. Son Daniel Jr. (Aleida) and their children Daniel III, Bryan Joseph, and Kristen Marie. Son Ruben (Maria) and their daughters Leslie Ann, Abigail, Iris Nicole, and Victoria Marie. Son Eliazar Sr. (Angelina) and their children Jason Henry (daughter Madison Layna), Bonnie Ann, Billy Jack, and Eliazar Jr. Daughter Norma (Lonnie) Treviño and their children Meaghan Danielle and Travis Lonnie. Son Antonio (Lydia) and their daughters Jennifer Lee and Jacklyn Ann. Daughter Sylvia (Toby) Rocha and their daughter Harrison Ryan.
His sisters Juanito Agado Martin, Manuela Garcia, Dolores A. Falcon, Adela Cervantes, and Amelia Gonzales also survive him, as well as his brothers Ignacio Sr., Manuel, and Juan Agado, Jr.; and by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday and Sunday, November 24, 25 at San Benito Funeral Home from 1-9 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be recited on both days at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2001 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito. Interment will follow at the Agado Family Cemetery.
