He was born October 19, 1927, in Carroll County, Virginia, to the late George Washington Marion and Dorothy Florence Carico Gwyn. He was an employee Chrysler Corporation where he served as the Union President for United Auto Workers Local 1183.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Marion and Dorothy Florence Gywn; his wife, Dixie E. Marion; and three brothers, Charlie Gwyn, Jerry Thomas Gwyn and Glen Gwyn.
He is survived by two daughters, Diana Funk and special friend, Ron Houk, Blenda and Bart Arbothnot; two sons, Kenny Marion and David Wayne Marion; one step-son, Tony Davis;one step-daughter, Sandy Doles; two sisters, Shirley Wilson and Linda Kirkman; two brothers, James Gwyn and Junior Gwyn; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at Fairview Church on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. with ministers, Sam Holder and Chris McMillian, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Church Cemetery.
