Samuel C. Cole was a farmer. Samuel C. Cole died on 11 Jan 1904, at his home in Seelyville, Vigo County, IN; he was buried two days later with the services in the Seelyville church. His death notice reads: Samuel Cole "Samuel Cole, an old soldier, age 62, died at his home in Seelyville this morning at 6 o'clock, after a prolonged illness. Since the war he has suffered from a wounded leg which has greatly weakened this winter. He leaves a wife and five children, four girls and one boy, all married. He will be buried Saturday. The funeral will occur at the Seelyville church."
From the obituary, it appears that he must have been in the Civil War, but I can find no such documentation thereto.
