Note: I believe there could be something wrong with the death certificate because of who it names as parents.

Father: Peter Sanders
Mother: Penny Woodall
Spouse:

I received this and meant no disrespect to Mr. Barbour when I wrote the above note:

"I read your comment involving his parentage and had to smile. :-) Keep in mind, he was born into slavery when they weren't allowed to legally marry. The slavers gave them names. When they were "freed" Many discarded the surnames given to them by their slave owners, which could very well have occurred with him. Also women gave their children to others as an adoption with no legalities involved. The children were told who their birth parents were, some even knew and saw them frequently. But they carried the surname of the family who raised them. Desperate times often required desperate measures. :-)
Blessings, Sandi :-)"

I just meant that I have seen where the informant has been very upset and giving his own parents when asked for parents. The information on the death certificate is not always completely accurate due to the emotions at the moment or the informant can have faulty information.
