Sister Maximus Mair, a domestic worker in convents for many years, died Monday (Feb. 4, 1991) at Incarnate Word Hospital after suffering from heart disease. She was 91.
Sister Mair was born in Tutzing, Bavaria, Germany. She entered the order of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in 1919 in Holland. She came to this country in 1921 and took her final vows in 1927.
She was a cook and seamstress at convents and hospitals in Missouri, Illinois, Texas and Oklahoma. She retired in 1971.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Incarnate Word Convent, 2800 Normandy Drive, Normandy. Burial will be in the convent's cemetery.
Among the survivors is a sister, Sister Louise Mair of Normandy.
