Born in Newry, Ireland to John Walker and Katherine Rutherford Walker. Married Nancy McClung on March 10, 1749 in Rockbridge Co., VA. Eleven known children: Nancy, Sarah, William, John, Mary, Jane, Elizabeth, Joseph, Susan, James, Samuel.
He served in the Revolutionary War.
Sometime after his wife's death in 1789 Joseph married Griselda McCrosky.
Joseph Walker's will from "The Scott County Will Book A.", page 314 - January 22, 1806 reads in part:
"My beloved wife Grissel Walker, One hundred dollars, household and kitchen furniture with all my cloth and linen therein contained and all the material and utensils for making the same with all my stock of cattle and grain either gathered or in the field.
It is my will and desire that twenty dollars of my Estate shall be applied for the support of the Gospel and the Interest of Religion in Cherry Spring Congregation to be paid in four equal annual payments at the disposal of the Elders of said congregation for the above purpose.
