Obituary from the Rappahannock Record, Kilmarnock, Va., July 18, 2103:

CHICAGO—Clarence Lewis Henderson of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Lancaster, died June 25, 2013.

He was born July 29, 1964, in Richmond to Mable Henderson Yerby. He was raised in Lancaster in the home of his late grandparents, Lewis and Elizabeth Henderson.

Mr. Henderson was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church during his youth. He graduated from Lancaster High School in June 1982.

He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) and earning many military awards and medals. SFC Henderson served numerous deployments: Operation Just Cause, PANAMA; Desert Storm, Iraq and Kuwait.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Caughman.

He is survived by his wife, Deirdre Henderson of Atlanta, Ga; his children, Chaunte Rogers of Montgomery, Ala., Clarence Henderson II of Seoul, Korea, and Jadyn Henderson and Alyvia Henderson of St. Louis, Missouri granddaughter, Jordin Denise Rogers of Montgomery, grandson, Ashden Caughman of Winston-Salem, N.C.; his mother, Mable Henderson Yerby of Lancaster; siblings, Tony Henderson of Woodbridge, Bernard Henderson of Midlothian, Juan Norris of Big Stone Gap, Shawn Lee of Seattle, Wash., Lynell Lee of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Lt. Col. Daniel Lee of Woodbridge.

A funeral was held July 6 at Beulah Baptist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
