Mrs. Emily Hegg Anderson, age 81, longtime resident of this community, passed away at the Litchfield Hospital Sunday morning, February 19, after a lingering illness.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Skone, Sweden, August 12, 1868. At the age of two she came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hegg and settled on a farm in Harvey township.
Mrs. Anderson was married to the late George J. Anderson in Litchfield January 1, 1889. They made their home in Harvey township until Mr. Anderson's death in 1934. Since that time Mrs. Anderson has made her home in Litchfield.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. August Carlson of Sisseton, S. D., Roy Cropp of Eden Valley and Mrs. Grace Pearson of Litchfield; seven sons, Clarence and Orville of Sisseton, S. D., Arthur of Portland, Oregon; Robert, Guy and Chester of Litchfield; Harold of Grove City; two brothers, Alfred Hegg of Manannah, and Henry Hegg of Minneapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Nelson of Manannah and Mrs. Sophie Johnson of Elbow Lake; nineteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Her husband, a son, Walter, and her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church, Litchfield, Wednesday, February 22 at 2:00 P.M., the Rev. G. William Barnum, officiating. Music was furnished by Miss Hazel Phillips and Mrs. Bruce Barrick, soloist.
The bearers were Donald and Lloyd Hegg, Merle Johnson, Donald Martin, Ben Wicks and Roy Nelson. Interment in Baptist cemetery at Grove City.
