Kenneth Melvin Bergerson was born on August 7, 1930 in Johnson Township, rural Gully, Minnesota to parents Bennie and Mabel (Sweno) Bergerson. He was the oldest of ten children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Kenneth was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church of rural Gully where he held several offices. He attended Poplar Isle School. Kenneth attended Plain View country school for two years while staying with his grandma, Mrs. Martin (Karen) Sweno.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Evelyn Idella Peterson on October 14, 1950 at the parsonage in Gully. Kenneth purchased the family farm where he and Evelyn raised their family and had beef cattle, oats and hay. Kenneth also used his self-taught skills to do carpentry work from building homes to sheds to kitchen cabinets all around the area. Over the years, he had many family, friends and neighbors work with him on various jobs. In 2007, the farm received the honor of Century Farm. Besides farming and carpentry work Kenneth was also employed at Gully Lumber for several years in the early 1960's. He also operated a road grader/snowplow for the townships of Johnson, Gully, and Chester.

In 2004, Kenneth fulfilled his longtime wish when he purchased an IH TD6 Bulldozer. His knowledge and ability enabled him to get the bulldozer working and used it around the farm.

Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing and country/bluegrass music. He and Evelyn also enjoyed many local musical jam sessions. Family came first in his life and he will always be remembered for his radiant smile.
