Mary Dell Borrowman, 83, of Pittsfield, IL died Monday, August 26, 2013 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born July 4, 1930 in Louisiana, MO, the daughter of Homer and Ruth Gunlock Adams. She is survived by five sons & one daughter, fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and special caregiver, Amber Apps. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mary Dell was a 1948 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a member of New Canton United Methodist Church, Pike County Home Extension and volunteered her time promoting fund raising efforts for the American Cancer Society. She loved to cook and host family dinners and enjoyed playing in bridge clubs throughout Pike County and the surrounding area. Memorials are suggested to Adams-Dustin Cemetery or Donor's choice.
Rockport-Atlas Couple Married In Missouri
Miss Mary Dell Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Adams of Atlas, and George Borrowman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Borrowman of Rockport, were wed Sunday, February 12, at 3:30 p.m. in a double ring ceremony which took place at the Methodist parsonage in St. Charles, Mo., Rev. Jones officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Riley of Pittsfield, close friends of the couple, served as attendants. The bride was charmingly attired in a brown gabardine suit with fur neckpiece, she chose brown accessories and her corsage was fashioned of yellow jonquils. Mrs. Riley wore a tweed suit with brown accessories and a corsage of yellow jonquils. The groom wore a suit of navy blue with carnation boutonniere and Mr. Riley a grey gabardine business suit with carnation boutonniere. Also witnessing the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Howard I. Richards of Pittsfield. After the rites the couple drove to Wentzville, Mo., where a lovely wedding dinner was served at the Southern-Air restaurant. The newly wedded couple immediately left for a two-week honeymoon in the South. Upon their return they will reside in Rockport where they have a home in readiness. The groom is associated with his father in farming. Both the bride and groom are graduates of Pittsfield high school, where they were most active in school affairs, and Mrs. Borrowman attended Lindenwood college in St. Charles, Mo. The couple has a wide circle of friends who join in wishing them much happiness.
