JOHN T. REINHOLD, age 90 of Grand Rapids, MN died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Evergreen Terrace in Grand Rapids. John was born in 1919 to John and Anna (nee: Anderson) Reinhold in Warren, MN. John grew up on the farm in the Red River Valley. In 1941, he joined the US Navy and served as a chief petty officer and machinist mate in the Pacific during WWII, where he received a Purple Heart. Following his return to the states, John and Bernice were married in 1945 in Portland, OR, and after his discharge from the Navy, they settled on the family farm. Influenced by the Red River flooding, they moved to Grand Rapids in 1966 and John worked as an electrician in construction until his retirement in 1983. John was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, both in Grand Rapids. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, golfing, photography and spending time with his family.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Bernice; One Son – Jim (Char) Reinhold of Olympia, WA; One Daughter – Debra (Bob) Jordon of Prineville, OR; One Sister – Helen Norheim of Billingham, WA; 5 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, December 31st from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Memorial Service at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids. Rev. Lynn Ronsberg and Rev. Paul Leslie will officiate. Inurnment with full military honors will be in the Zion Lutheran Columbarium.
