David Dale Newton, age 80, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully at Evergreen Terrace May 5, 2010 surrounded by loving family and friends.
He was the second youngest of seven children born to Ruth and Harry Newton, Sr. on August 10, 1929 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Bailey in Grand Rapids. They had three children: Vicki, Michael and Kent whom they raised together for 25 years.
"Newt", as Dave was affectionately called, was a "sportsman" with a passion for trapping since boyhood. His other interests included all sports, especially baseball, football and hockey which he participated in during his school years and beyond. Dave was also a member and officer of the Grand Rapids Gun Club (quite the marksman!). He belonged to the Grand Rapids Archery Club for many years as well. Dave served multiple terms as The Blandin Paper Company Credit Union Secretary/Treasurer. In his retirement years, Dave enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, family, friends and traveling with his wife, Carole, to Mexico in the winters.
Beloved Husband, Father, Stepfather, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, Dave was known for his big heart, winning smile and will be missed by all.
