"Uncle Tip is dead and many Bosserites morn a good friend of long standing.
It is with a feeling of genuine compassion that we chronicle here the passing of an old friend, Mr. W. H. Bledsoe long known to his intimates as
"Uncle Tim" whose death occurred Tuesday afternoon at his home in Haughton. The funeral
service conducted at his home and interment at three Oclock was in the family burial grounds at the Bledsoe old place near Fillmore.
Mr. Bledsoe almost totally blind at the time of his death had been in failing health for some years past, but he patiently bore his afflictions.
He was not a man of the stamp who gave continued thought to peersonal comfort but rather was always most concerned about the welfare of those near and dear, and his friends. He enjoyed an enviable record as a Southern trooper, and his wound in battle recieved at Chickamunga, Sept 20 1863, left him a cripple for life. but no one ever heeard him register a complaint on this score. His company was the Robins Grays, Loudon Butler, Captain, and a surviving comrade at arms is Dr. Paul Lawrence also of Haughton.
Decedent was born in Georgia during 1840 and was the son of Judge T. W. Bledsoe, himself for many years a resident of the Fillmore community. His mother was a Miss Key. His first wife was Miss Sallie Arnold daughter of William Arnold. Seven
Children born of this union those surviving,
Mr. M. C. Bledsoe, Mr. B.B. Bledsoe, Mur Bledsoe,
and Jim Bledsoe.

My name is Carl Thomas Bledsoe, Jr. William Henry Bledsoe was my Great-Grandfather. I wanted to let you know that my Grandfather, Dr. James Arnold Bledsoe, was also a son of William Henry Bledsoe, but he was not listed as one of the children on the memorial. He was the twin brother of the unfortunate Jack Bledsoe who died when only 9 years old. James Arnold Bledsoe was born May 16, 1888 in Bossier Parish, Louisiana and died March 7, 1942 in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas. He and his older brother Murff Franklin Bledsoe both had medical practices in Port Arthur. Murff was the more sucessful of the two. James Arnold was married twice, in 1911 he married my Grandmother, Ora Belle Patten of Jasper, Texas and had one child, Carl Thomas Bledsoe SR., born September 14, 1913 in Jasper, Texas. They divorced in around 1917. Several years later he married Gladys Canada Button a widow with one daughter, Phyllis. There were two children born of this marriage: James Arnold Bledsoe, Jr. and Jack Bledsoe.

Thanks,

Tom Bledsoe
His second wife was widow Edna Wray.
"Uncle Tip" was during his active years prominent in the affairs of Bossier Parish.
