Birth: Sep. 25, 1929
Death: Mar. 12, 2010

Barbara Jean Bootes, age 80, passed into rest on March 12, 2010, in Redlands, California, after a courageous struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Jean, as she was known, was born on September 25, 1929, in Durant, OK. Her father, Elihu B. Boles, and her mother, Mary Elizabeth McDaniel, did not raise her; instead she was brought up in the home of her McDaniel grandparents and her uncle, Marvin McDaniel, in Durant, OK. Jean graduated from Durant High School in 1947 and married her high school sweetheart, Harold Eugene Bootes, after he completed college in 1949. They moved to Sapulpa, OK, where their son, Donald Ray Bootes, was born in 1952. A few years later, Harold and Jean moved the family to Oklahoma City, where they raised their son and were active members of Lakeside Methodist Church. Some of Jean's closest friends were members of her bridge club. Jean was a homemaker, who supplemented the family income by working at a local jewelry store, while Harold was an agent with Prudential Insurance. After Harold's death in 2006, Jean was aided by a large network of caring friends and neighbors until 2009, when she moved to California to be near her family. She is survived by her son, Donald, daughter-in-law, Lynn, and grandson, Kenny Bootes, of Redlands, CA; nieces, Mary-Helen Chaffin, Debbie Bootes, Marcie Ray Campbell, and Judy Gillis; by nephews, Mike and Gary Shipp. Jean's best friend, Doris Turney, of Oklahoma City, was like a sister to her. She will be remembered for her sense of fun and humor, her love of beauty, and her courage in adversity. Memorial Services will be held at Lakeside Methodist Church, 2925 NW 66th St., Okla. City, on Monday, June 21st, at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be at Hillview Cemetery, Durant, Oklahoma.

Note: Thanks to DogMama08 (#47394092) She has brought to my attention that There is no Hillview Cemetery in Durant OK or Bryan County OK or in Oklahoma that I can find. The two cemteries in Durant are Pioneer Cemetery and Highland Cemetery.
