A VICTIM OF THE PHILIPPINES.
A young man named Frank Cihler died at Ceylon of consumption last Thursday where he resided with his aged parents. A few years ago Mr. Cihler was a strong, vigorous young man. He enlisted in the United States army and went to the Philip¬pines. He served there several months when he returned to the states wrecked in health. The remainder of his enlistment was spent in a government sanitarium in New Mexico. Consumption had its fatal grip upon him when he was discharged and the gov¬ernment gave him a pension of $30 a month. He returned to the humble home of his aged parents at Ceylon, there to await the final summons.
He was a man about thirty years of age and of good character and ability. The remains were taken to his former home ten miles north of Jackson for burial.
