He joined the Royal Navy as a boy 24 Jun 1834. Ships: HMS Spartiate, Snake, Hawich, Princess Charlotte, Dublin, Rodney, Ewryalus. His rating on discharge 08 Mar 1849 was Quartermaster. When he married at St Nicholas, Harwich, ESS, England on 16 Aug 1849 his place of residence was Milton. In the 1851 census Gravesend, Kent, are found Henry and Ellen and Ellen Charlotte (9 months, born Hammersmith, Middlesex). In the Middlesex census, 1851, there are: Alfred Morey 31 bricklayer b. Hampshire. Charlotte " 31 wife b. Hampshire. Henry Morey 61 bricklayer b. Hampshire. He died 02 May 1898, Parua Bay, Manaia, NLD, NZL and is buried in the Parua Bay Cemetery alongside his wife Eleanor Poppy who predeceased him. KLN Parua Bay. He was not in the Maori Wars, may have been in New Zealand during his early Royal Navy days, and his grave is not an Historic War One.
