Son of John Everton & Matilda Staples, married Amanda Malvina Davis, 21 June 1863.
William, son of John and Matilda Staples Everton, left New York in 1860 going west to Minnesota where he was married to Amanda Davis in 1863. The wedding occured at the home of Mrs. Ambrose Rowley, sister of the groom and Rev. J. S. Peregrine officiated. They made their home in Winona where he was employed as engineer on what was then known as the Winona and St. Peter Railroad (now know as Milwaukee and St. Paul) until the spring of 1865 when he moved to a homestead in Fairbault County near Blue Earth City.
In the spring of 1871 he contracted pneumonia from which he died May 5, aged 33 years. Was buried in the family burial plot.
