Richard Bender, 61, of Northome, MN, died on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Cease Funeral Home Chapel in Blackduck, MN. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.
He was born on December 7, 1953 in Grand Rapids, MN to Richard and Patsy (Storzbach) Bender. He attended Island Lake and Squaw Lake schools before graduating from Northome High School. He married Katrine Cole on July 2, 1983 at Hope Lutheran Church in Northome, MN. Richard spent his youth living by Island Lake and loved it so much, he stayed near until his passing.
He was an independent logger who supplied logs to Blandin, Norbord, Potlach and many others. He loved his logging equipment and maintained, fixed, updated and painted it continuously. He was a member of the Timber Producers and MLEP.
He is survived by his wife, Katrine Bender, of Northome; two daughters, Tricha (Jeff) Borland of Surprise, AZ and Ricci (Tyler) Billehus, of Minneapolis and a son, Richard "Chase" Bender of Northome, MN and many of his loving friends and extended family. He will be sadly missed by his little friend and companion, Mr. Sunny Muffin.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Frank and Agnes Storzbach and paternal grandparents, Florence Bender and Richard and Clara Bender; aunts, Betty Boquist and Kathryn Hanson, uncles, Leroy Olson and Keith Hanson and a cousin, Jerry Hanson.
