Maria Vigo Seitz, 49, of Amherst, Va., died Sunday at the Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg, Va. Born April 18, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of Mary T. Diamanti Vigo, Swoyersville, and the late Angelo M. Vigo.
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Lynchburg, Va., and was raised on Shoemaker Street, Swoyersville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Edward T. Hughes, U.S. Navy.
Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband, Howard W.; sons, Joseph A. Hughes, U.S. Navy, Amherst, Va. and Camden County, Ga.; Sean M. Hughes, U.S. Navy, Amherst, Va.; a stepson, Roy L. Seitz, U.S. Navy, Newport News, Va.; a sister, Carmella Samson, Durham, N.C.; a brother, Joseph Vigo; Chula Vista, Calif.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst, Va., with the Rev. Ralph M. Hamlet, officiating.
Interment will be in Bryant Family Cemetery, Amherst, Va.
Friends may call at 6:30 p.m. for a Rosary service and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Amherst Rescue Squad, Amherst, Va.
