WASHINGTON, IL - John Robert "Bob" Eppelheimer, 88, of Washington, Ill., died at 3:08 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at his home.
Born Dec. 22, 1921, in Thawville, Ill., to George P. and Ruby McNaught Eppelheimer, he married Bernadine "Bea" Zumwalt on Feb. 26, 1949, in Watseka, Ill.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Bea; two daughters, Connie Symmonds of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Colleen (Barry) Hockensmith of Bloomington, Ill.; one brother, Leland (Elvera) Eppelheimer of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Eppelheimer of Paxton, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Bob was a machine operator at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1986. He also drove a school bus for District 50 for 17 years.
He was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington.
Bob also enjoyed playing cards with friends, gardening and attending Wednesday-morning coffee with his friends from Sunnyland Christian Church.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and burial will be in the church columbarium at a later date.
