Marcella A. (Krejcarek) Frelich, 92, Maribel, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at a local nursing home. She was born Oct. 9, 1917, in the town of Franklin, daughter of the late Emil and Catherine (Ledvina) Krejcarek. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc in 1933. She then worked as a beautician at the Fritzgerald Beauty Shop in Manitowoc. On Nov. 18, 1937, she married Wencil "Jim" Frelich at St. Joseph Church in Kellnersville. She helped Jim run the family farm in Cooperstown while raising their five children. They celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2002, and Jim passed away July 5, 2003.
Marcella was past president of Holy Trinity Church of New Denmark and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella of Denmark. She helped organize the Hickory Grove Homemakers of which she was a member for over 50 years. She was a leader for the Hickory Heights 4-H Club, former treasurer of the Rosecrans WFLA Lodge, and a member of the Maribel Senior Citizens. In her early years she was a member of the Polifka's Corner Gymnastics team.
Marcella loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, gardening, playing cards and dancing.
She is survived by her five sons, Alan (special friend, Melanie Kebble), Elk River, Minn., and his children, Alan II (Sara) and Kerry (David) Ficken; Paul (Ginny), Mishicot, and their children, Lee Ann (Randy) Henchen, Rebecca Frelich and her husband, Chris Haese, and Paula (Larry) Feest; Jim (Mary), Salem, Ore., and their daughter, Julie (Cameron) Quintero; Tom (Carol), Maribel, and their children, Aaron (Jessica), and Mike (Nikki); and Ron (Joy), Maribel, and their children, John (fiancee, Brittany Beinborn), Matt, Andy, David, and Sarah, Frelich; 15 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Caden, Miriam, Taylor, Noah, Collin, Trevor, Julia, Max, Zeus, Will, Evan, Faith, Jack, and Brennen; brother, Melvin (Marcy) Krejcarek, Manitowoc; sister-in-law, Dorothy Krejcarek, Virginia Beach, Va.; and brother-in-law, George Frelich, Manitowoc.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; one grandson, Steve Frelich; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Olivia Haese; and brothers, Eugene, Emil Jr., and Donald Krejcarek.
Family and friends may call Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, from 9 a.m. until the hour of Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday at church, with Fr. Ron Colombo officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
