DAR Real Daughter
Irena (AKA "Arrenah") Redman joined the DAR two weeks before she died in 1896. She was the daughter of Henry Redman, a fifer in Capt. Clark's company. Of the 8th VA Regiment. According to a book published by the DAR in 1912, "In her last hours, Miss Redman bequeathed her father's fife-case to the Old Dominion Chapter." That appears to be the object she is holding in the photo. The Peaks of Otter chapter held a marking ceremony for her in Bedford County, Va. in 2016. If you know more about the photo, the fife case, or Arrenah Redman, please reach out.
