Paul W. "Shorty" Herren, of Quapaw, Okla., passed away Aug. 3, 2011, at his home. He was 90.
Mr. Herren was born Oct. 23, 1920, to Thomas H. and Pearl (Crotts) Herren in McCurtain, Okla. He lived in the Quapaw area for 41 years coming from Baxter Springs, Kan. He is a retired truck driver for Yellow Freightliners. He was a member of the First Assembly God Church in Quapaw and a member of the American Legion of Miami, Okla.
He married Ellen L. Hicks on July 5, 1944, in Columbus, Kan. She preceded him in death.
His parents; a brother, Lee Herren; and a grandson, Russell Beattie, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include, three daughters, Paula Stiver, of Quapaw, Judy Beattie and husband, Rusty, of Quapaw, and Pam Yardy, of the home; one brother, Loren Pete Herren and wife, Dorthy, of Baxter Springs; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Service will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at First Assembly of God Church, Quapaw. Rev. Geoff Buffalo and Rev. Gary Rhodes will officiate. Interment will be in Beattie Cemetery, Quapaw. Pallbearers will be Larry Radford, Dennis Earp, Jim Jones, Jim Brittle, Larry Stiver and James Beattie. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Yardy, Tony Yardy, and David Purvis. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami.
