Frederic Allen Sawyer Known to his many friends as "Ted", was born on June 4, 1926 and passed peacefully on January 27, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sawyer graduated as valedictorian from Alameda High School (1944), received an AB in economics from UC Berkeley (1947) and an LLB, now a JD, from Boalt Hall (1951), graduating number one in his class. He served in the Navy (1952-1953) during the Korean War. He was a partner in the McCutchen law firm in San Francisco and later had a private practice in Walnut Creek. Over the years Sawyer was a very active member of a wide variety of clubs and community organizations including Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, the Bohemian Club, Cal Alumni Association, The State Bar Committee on Federal Courts, Moraga School Board, and Rossmoor Lions Club and Library. He is survived by his brother Houghton F. Sawyer, daughter Denise Sawyer Deneaux, sons Frederic Allen Sawyer, Jr. and William Denault Sawyer, and grandchildren Erin Henning, Vanessa Sawyer, Allison Ferry-Deneaux, and great-grandson Donovan Henning. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Diane ("Dede") and grandson Daniel Sawyer. Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial service celebrating his life at St. Anselm's Episcopal Church, 682 Michael Lane, Lafayette at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, followed by a reception at the Parish Hall..
